The Inniskeen Road July Evening Festival is a celebration of his work. Walk or cycle through Kavanagh Country in 1920's/30's costume. Enjoy recitals/re-enactments at many of the sites immortalized in the poet's work. Drink tea and enjoy the best in traditional music. Prizes for period dress!

Saturday 13 July

  • 11am - 1pm - Children's Event: Games, Music, Fun Art (Age 3 - 12 years) NB Parents are requested to attend for the duration. Led by Pauline Downey - Venue: Inniskeen Social Club
  • 3pm - Inniskeen Through The Ages - Guided walk through Inniskeen village led by well-known historian Larry McDermott. Assemble at Car park opposite the Patrick Kavanagh Centre
  • 5pm - Cycle through Kavanagh Country led by Brian Dooley. Stop at Dooley's & Smyth's old farmhouses and enjoy refreshments, music and storytelling in these old rustic settings dating back 200 years. High Nelly Hire available. Assemble at Car park opposite the Patrick Kavanagh Centre
  • 10pm - Dance in Inniskeen Social Club

 Sunday 14 July

  • 1pm - Registration at the Round Tower Museum. Walk or cycle
  • 2pm - Dancing at the Deck (Pat Lennon's)
  • 2.30pm - Re-enactments from 'The Green Fool' by Fanebank Theatre. Venue: House of the wedding - (Tom Lennon's)
  • 3.15pm - Extracts from 'Tarry Flynn"'- "On the fest of Corpus Christi" by Fanebank Theatre. Poetry Recitals & Music at the poet's birthplace, Mucker
  • 3.45pm - Salamanca Barney's Sermon the happenings at Drumnay crossroads. Performed by Peter Murphy & Fanebank Theatre. Location: The green - opposite Kednaminsha old school
  • 4.30pm - 'Patrick Kavanagh -V- The Leader' - Extracts from the Libel Trial. Performed by Brian Dooley & Thomas Ruddy. Also Music, Storytelling & refreshments. Venue: Billy Brennan's Barn
  • 6pm - Back to Inniskeen village for BBQ, Music, Song & Craic
